Alpaca fibre is an excellent insulator for both heat and cold. The physical characteristics of alpaca fibre allow the manufacturing of products with superior performance in extreme climates. Alpaca is more heavily medullated: in other words, there are tiny hollow areas in the centers of many individual alpaca fibers. These areas hold the warmth in winter and insulate from heat in summer.
